Get a swimming pool, they said. It will be fun, they said. It will increase the value of your property, they said. And all of those statements may well be true until your beloved swimming pool springs a leak. That is when the fun stops, and the worry starts.
A leak in your swimming pool can cause a lot of damage in a very short period of time, both to the structure of the pool itself, but depending on the size of the leak and the location of your pool to any surrounding properties as well.
Not all leaks are obvious, at least initially, but when a swimming pool does begin to leak, immediate action must be taken. As the homeowner, it is best to be prepared for these situations; all swimming pools will eventually develop a leak, which is why it is sensible to have the details of a professional leak detection company to hand.
ADI is the original specialist leak detection company in the United Kingdom. Our team of specialists has found numerous leaks all over the country; we have the knowledge, the expertise, and the tools to locate any swimming pool leak quickly and with the minimum of fuss and disruption.
Where Could Your Pool Be Leaking From?
Simply put, your swimming pool could be leaking from anywhere and everywhere. The pool liner could be punctured, the pipes that feed the filtration system could have come apart, or there could be a crack in the tiling of the pool itself.
That is the biggest problem when trying to find a leak in a swimming pool, there are literally so many areas that need to be checked, and of course, if the leak is relatively minor, then you might not even be aware that you have a leak until significant damage has been caused. That is because any swimming pool can lose up to ¼ of an inch per day through evaporation and general use. Sometimes you might be lucky, and the source of the leak might be blindingly obvious, but in most cases, this is the exception rather than the rule.
To locate the source of the leak without causing extensive damage to the pool requires specialist knowledge and equipment. This is ADI’s area of expertise and why so many pool owners turn to us when they suspect a leak in their pool.
How We Find Swimming Pool Leaks
At ADI, we use a range of different techniques and technologies to search for and locate the source of any leaks. We have trained scuba divers who are qualified to carry out a number of tests inside the pool itself, including the use of an LS1 swimming PoolLeak Locating Device to track down leaks in the pool structure itself.
We can also force tracer gases into the pipework under pressure. This perfectly safe and environmentally friendly gas has a smell added to it. Because the gas is inserted under pressure, it will naturally look for the weakest area section of the pipework to escape, which will be the exact location of the leak. As the gas escapes, we then use gas sniffer technology to track down where exactly the gas is coming from, thereby identifying the leak.
In situations where neither the gas system scuba divers are not an option, we can also utilize electronic listening devices that can hear leaks up to 2.5 metres in depth. It does not matter where or how the leak presents itself ADI can and will find the leak for you, saving you a lot of time, worry, and unnecessary expense.
